Derrick Moore is the the founder and Operational Planner for Fire Landscape. With decades of experience and relationships, he’s established a network of teams across the nation that can accomplish any task. The total amount of experience in this network is immeasurable, most of which are just as seasoned and accomplished as himself.
Derrick retired from the North Carolina Forest Service in 2023 but continues a role in Wildfire and Prescribed Fire leadership. His career worked many years with USFS in national fire and all hazard campaigns. He’s served with multiple interagency Incident Management Teams from the Southeastern states, across the Midwest, Southwest, through California and north all the way to the Canadian border. Derrick achieved Operations Section Chief Type 1 (OSC1) in 2020 on the Mendocino Complex Fire in California, and has been a primary leader in All Hazard Operations. Over his career he’s led resources in multiple wildfires, hurricanes, floods, a train derailment, and assisted with the Suttle Columbia recovery in 2003.
Within that career Derrick worked 16 years directly in forest and land management, and became a leader in prescribed fire planning, mitigation, and implementation. He is a certified state burner as well as a federal certified Burn Boss Type 2 (RXB2).
